Shrine of St. Anthony

A Space for Encounter

The Home of the Companions of St. Anthony is in Ellicott City, Maryland, at the Shrine of St. Anthony. Located in scenic Howard County, Maryland, just 30 miles west of Baltimore, the Shrine of St. Anthony is open daily for quiet prayer and Mass. The building that houses the Shrine was built by the Franciscan Friars Conventual in 1928 and has served as a  student residence, a house of philosophy, and a novitiate. The Companions were founded in Ellicott City in 1991.  Dedicated as the official Archdiocesan Shrine to St. Anthony, the Shrine houses a first-class relic of St. Anthony of Padua, gifted to the friars in Ellicott City in 1995.

Who can be more blessed or happier than one in whom God has set up His dwelling place? What else can you need or what else can possibly make you richer? You have everything when you have within you the One who made all things, the only One who can satisfy the longings of your spirit, without whom everything else is nothing.
