This homily was given by Fr. Stephen on Epiphany Sunday. Epiphany means manifestation of the coming of God in the incarnation. This story of the Epiphany has two players – 1) the Three Wise Men and 2) King Herod. The former, the Wise Men, chose to adore Jesus and give Him gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh. The latter, King Herod, sought to kill the child.
What do we choose to when we come before Jesus? Let us follow the example of the Wise men and adore Jesus.

This homily was given by Fr. Richard on the Solemnity of Mary, Mother God. Saint Francis had a great love for Our Lady. Before his death, he wrote the praises of God and a blessing for the brothers. The blessing is one that we hear on January 1st. Every start of the new year, we ask that God may shine upon us through the Face of Jesus. God showed us His face by coming to us as a baby. Mary, our Mother, is the Mother of God. She helped to make God’s face visible.

When it is light, we can see, good things happen, etc. When it is dark, there could be evil things, we may not see where to go, we may not know what to do, and other things. In the first moment of creation, God is light. God created the light and darkness. God’s light can overcome any darkness in our lives. May the light of faith guide you always.

But, St. James tells us to hear the Word and be doers of the Word. The first action of doing is to stay close to Jesus. Strive to be close to Jesus and allow Him to work through you.
